A Season of Light
Julie Iromuanya
This was my third (and final) Book of the Month book. This is a story about a Nigerian-American immigrant family and the specific traumas and ghosts they deal with as a result of the Nigerian Civil War, where the father’s sister went missing during the conflict. The father locks his daughter in her room and forbids her to leave, haunted by the past and his daughter’s resemblance to his sister.
I felt this book had very interesting ideas but the pacing and narrative structure was confusing. The first quarter of the book was interesting.
