The Only One Left
Riley Sager
This book is full of twists and turns, some incredible and some a bit lackluster. Was this a good book? Or did I just enjoy reading it? Some of the plot points felt forced, some twists a bit convenient. But I couldn't put this book down and finished it over the course of an afternoon.
This is a story about a caregiver and her 70-year-old paraplegic patient who is unable to talk after a series of strokes. After the previous caregiver goes missing, our protagonist is tasked with taking care of the sole heir of a sprawling estate which is on the edge of ruin after the murder of her parents and sister at the end of the 1920s. The 30-year-old mystery looms in the background of this novel as these two characters learn more and more about each other and find out more than they ever expected.
