Pure Colour
Sheila Heti
I bought this book at a small store on Bowen Island in British Columbia with the intention of reading more Canadian fiction.
There's some things I loved about this book and some things I hated. The author brought up the idea of this life being the first draft of Creation so many times that I began to suspect this novel was a first draft that made it through publishing. There’s enough beautiful phrases that kept me going, but it has a very strange and sparse plot as well as lots of conflicting metaphors.
This is a super short book; I finished the bulk of it in a waiting room while my partner got their hair cut.
